We Are All Students

We Are All Students supports formerly incarcerated and other system impacted college students

The mission of We Are All Students is to spread information and inspiration at the intersection of mass incarceration and higher education.

We exist to advance and defend knowledge and freedom by informing the public about the atrocity of mass incarceration and the promise of education, transforming false and misleading narratives about lawbreakers and lawmakers, and reforming or abolishing unjust education and incarceration policies and practices.

We envision a world without cages, chains, police, and public policies that respond to harm with more harm.

We value lived experience, academic expertise, and critical engagement with the people, policies, and political philosophies that fuel carcerality and suppress liberty.

We aim to empower and inspire each other and the public to do our part in shaping the birth of the new world that’s forming, the inheritance we’ll leave future generations.

Social Media

Our social media campaign blends imagery and storytelling with statistics, quotes, and other information to inform the public about the ideas and experiences of formerly incarcerated students, transform false and destructive narratives about us into more factual and empowering ones, and help reform or abolish unjust education and incarceration policies and practices. The campaign is in the works and we expect to go public in Fall 2023.

We Are All Students political education is an anecdote for miseducation about drugs and crime.

Political Education

Our political education curriculum combines the power of digital media with insights from science, social science, and the humanities to understand and portray mass incarceration and the wars on drugs and crime in new ways. We are converting a series of seminars we taught at UC Davis into digital content we'll share for free online.
